We use ‘no’ with singular count nouns, plural count nouns, and uncount nouns to say something does not exist or is not present.

e.g. Sorry, I’ve got no time.

 

No is more emphatic way of saying ‘not a’ or ‘not any’. At the beginning of the sentence, no is almost always used.

e.g. No cigarette is completely harmless.

 

Nobody, nothing are used in the same way.

e.g. I’ve got absolutely nothing to say.

 

Before of, we use none, not no.
