As is used

Like is used

  1. for what somebody or something really is. (jobs or roles)

e.g. She works as an air-host.

  1. 2.      after accept, be known, class, describe, refer to, regard, use.

e.g. He's known as an expert on antiques.

  1. in the expressions: as usual, as…as, as much, the same as.

e.g. He came late as usual.

  1. in the clauses of manner to mean 'in the way that'.

e.g. Do it as I showed you.

 

  1. for similarities

e.g. She works like a slave.

  1. after feel, look, smell, taste, sound + noun

e.g. It feels like velvet.

It looks like Turner is going to win the race.

  1. with nouns, pronouns or the –ing form to express similarity

e.g. It's like walking on a tightrope.
